MusiK MayheM, Yes I Said Mayhem!!

Well holy crap on a cracker!! What a whirl wind of a month...

I’ve been busily running around like a chook with its head cut off in preparation for MusiK MayheM!

(The MusiK MayheM drum skin that got signed by all the bands!! Best of all I get to keep it!!!)

I want to say thank you to all the bands- Streamlyne, Admella, Driveby Epic, Stomp The Dog, Sierra, Calling Utopia, Kid Columbia, The Nimrods, Neveroddoreven and Moot. These guys all donated their time and awesome tunage for the day and I appreciated it so much!!

(Me with a comparing mohawks with a couple of the guys from Stomp the Dog! I think they have me beat...)

A huge thanks to all stores that donated to our raffle- Dale Cleves Music (They donated a $200 guitar), Opsm Millicent (They donated a $150 pair of Ray Bans), Banner Hardware Millicent (Donated $100 worth of vouchers) and Sports Power and Toy Kingdom Millicent (Donated $40 worth of vouchers) It was great to see so much support from our local stores and it really meant a lot!

Thanks goes out to Pierina”s Hair and Body Concept for donating over $200 worth of haircuts throughout Mohawk Madness and MusiK MayheM! We totally love you guys and Jess and I are so happy with our “Rockin” haircuts!

Also they guys from Juicy X for doing the sound for us, The Community Club for letting us have the venue and Hayley, Kimmi and Eryn for doing the door for us!

I also need to give a very special mention and thank you to Mr. Andrew Garde VP of the Hydrocephalus Support Association for coming all the way down from Sydney to support the day! The trip was a massive 1400Km drive!!

It was so great to meet another person with hydrocephalus and such a genuinely lovely person as well! It meant a lot to have your support on the day!

(Andrew and I Showing of the Hydrocephalus Awareness Banner and MusiK MayheM Drum Skin!!)

I know I’m thanking a lot of people but honestly without all of their support MusiK MayheM would not have been possible so while I’m at it I want to thank the guys from my band Tom and Tony, they support me so much with all I’m trying to achieve through The Brain Drain Project so, much love to you guys!

(Our band Calling Utopia playing on the day!)

And of course my family, who, if I didn’t have them, I don’t know where I would be. I love you guys so much! XX

Right, that’s the formal part of my blog done! I hope I haven’t forgotten anyone!

What a day, the whole thing is kind of a blur but I want to start off by saying it was a great success!!! We raised $1,562 for the day!! Which for such a small community is awesome!!

The bands that came were brilliant!! I’m so happy that we got such a great variety of music together for the day. All the bands played so well!

So, after our set a Rock The Schools I tried to get up and talk about hydrocephalus and never got through it. Well on Sunday after our bands set, I attempted yet again to get up and talk about hydrocephalus. Out of everything this was the part of the day that I had been stressing about the most since I didn’t get through it last time. Sure enough as soon as I started trying to explain, I started crying again. I was so mad at myself for doing this for the second time. I just wanted to get off that stage but my sister yet again saved me.. She just turns to me pats me on the back and says “it’s ok Sarah, take a deep breath and take your time..” Then I could hear others in the audience start to urge me on as well. So I calmed myself down the best I could and continued. Throughout my speech I had moment where I couldn’t help but cry a little but it got easier as I went on and by the end of it I wasn’t too bad. Until of course my brother and sister got up and played a song that they had written together for me. Yeah, I bawled through that but the song is so freaking awesome!! I will put the link at the bottom of this blog.

Needless to say, we created so much awareness and raised a lot of money!! I’m really happy with how everything turned out and I’m really hoping that we can make it an annual event!

In total now The Brain Drain Project has raised a whopping $3,708!! So I just want to say a big THANK YOU to anyone that has donated and/or helped me in any way so far this year and let you know that we have some really exciting stuff yet to come!!

Here's the link to my brother and sisters song 'HUSH' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x8d3DD3NiJE

Until next time Brain Drainers I’m sending you much Hydro Love!!
